Personal Medical Records

No, no – not the kind that are all over the news these days as the Obama administration tries to re-architect the nation’s dysfunctional health system, but one’s own personal files and medical records and such that are kept in one’s own house. How best to organize them? When it was just me and TheGuy, I was… not comfortable, but ok with my relatively haphazard approach. Flexible spending stuff for each year was filed accordingly. And other paperwork tended to be filed by doctor. But now that we’ve added a third person to the mix, I want to get a better more comprehensive system in place, along with good notes to refer back to.

Unclutterer has a post up with suggestions for how to organize medical billings and paperwork. I’m also intrigued by myphr.com which offers a bunch of forms to download to compile your own personal health record.

There isn’t anything urgent pushing me on this right now – but I’d really like to have a decent system in place before something major (or even minor) does happen. Hopefully I can make some progress on this in the next few months. And hopefully we won’t need to be hyper-organized in the next few months.
