Pretty sick – so sick that I set down the laptop and just laid down and half-watched some tv (DVDs) today. So I also felt completely unproductive and lame. But: sick!
TheLittleGuy has been sick for a couple of weeks (cough, cold, ear infection) but slowly seems to be getting better. He apparently gave it to me. The only good part is that whenever I sneeze he says “Bess you, Mama!” from wherever he is in the house. Totally adorable.
But generally, I’m still annoyed and frustrated about all the Things not Getting Done.
Penny starts daycare in two weeks, and since it’s only two days a week the only part I’m dreading is the illness. Her current preschool has an extra-strict sick policy, but the new one has a standard daycare policy where they only have to stay home for high fevers, etc. Makes perfect sense for working parents who need the child care, but oh how I dread the germs! During our visit last week every kid in the place had a runny nose.
It is frustrating – although I have only gotten sick myself a fraction of the times that he has had a cold. The only advantage I’ve been persuaded of is that *supposedly* it will mean many fewer illnesses in kindergarten and first grade, since that won’t be his first exposure to a slew of virii. Here’s hoping!
And, apart from the ear infections that TLG seems prone to, he’s in generally good spirits even with a cold. It’s just that the constant runny nose is disgusting. But P’s older – can she blow her own nose? That’ll save you a lot of trouble.
She can but she prefers to yell, “Mama!” like she’s just been stung by a bee. But the new daycare emphasizes doing this task themselves, and then throwing the tissue away and washing hands. I noticed that none of the other kids were very good at doing it without a reminder, but Penny is very aware of when she needs to wipe/blow her nose so hopefully she’ll pick up on it and start doing it herself.
