About

This is a personal weblog.

20+ things to know about me in no particular order:

  • Hardcore GenX-er who first typed something to the Internet on a VT220 in 1990.
  • Born/raised in the U.S.
  • Adult convert [sic #iykyk] to UUism (with some reservations).
  • Cishet woman, probably demi/sapiosexual, married more than 20 years, parent to teenager, love my bougie doodle doggo.
  • Reader, researcher, writer, manager, leader, and tech policy nerd.
  • Daily podcast listener.
  • Grammar pet peeve: “impact” as a verb. No, people; no.
  • Secret pandemic-spawned reading habit: MM romance novels.
  • Inadvertently collects: throw blankets and other hygge-supporting accoutrements, small notebooks and journals, and Sephora samples.
  • First-generation college & grad school student – ever in class #limbo.
  • Top (as in worst, not favorite) three global crises: climate, wealth inequality, information manipulation.
  • Love working in good faith on important challenges with people smarter and/or more skilled than me.
  • Huge fan of and expert at never-ending, online, occasionally asymmetric, text-based, real conversation – come chat!
  • Jaded observer of patterns in the world without patience for mansplaining or privileged grievance whining.
  • Comfortable (and constantly) finding myself betwixt and between – drama club & math club; liberal arts & engineering; science & religion; policy & technology; anti-capitalist & institutionalist; the list goes on…
  • Things I know I should probably ban from my diet but don’t: wine, animal protein.
  • Learning to recognize and resist #whiteness and its maleficence.
  • Enjoys low-key multi-handed card games like Hearts and Aggravation at my dining table. They make room for conversation.
  • Grateful for all the people in my life who have taught me so much.
  • #Hashtags are not my native language (genX, remember), but I do try. Also, I’ve now been informed that even #Hashtags are passé. Oops.
